Tropix is a hat tip to the intricate, messy landscape of the rainforests of Far North Queensland. I grew up in and around these amazing forests and still carry a lot of cellular memories for their sounds, smells, colours, shapes, temperature and mood. Fantastically busy and wonderfully loud and still yet quiet at the same time. This is the landscape of my childhood, spending weeks on end in tents at the edge of the forest, running through wait-a-while, jumping into freezing cold water in stark juxtaposition to the never ending heat of a far northern summer.
